Pastor Rod Block - April 2012

Jesus said "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS." Matthew 11:28-29

Hebrews 4 gives us a warning, "Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. For we who have believed enter that rest."

The reason those Jews never made it to the promised land, was because of unbelief. Unbelief always forfeits rest!

One night on a trip across the lake, a huge storm blew in and threatned to capsize the disciples boat. Jesus however was sound asleep in the boat. The disciples woke Jesus up and asked Him if He didn't care that they were drowning. Jesus got up, not because of the storm but because of the cries of His disciples, rebuked the storm and them for lack of faith.

The problem was that the disciples were yoked to the storm rather than Jesus. When you yoke yourself to the cares and worries of this life there is no rest. But if you yoke yourself to Jesus, you will not fear, you will be filled with faith, and you will be at rest no matter what circumstance, battle or storm you face.

You may find other people who are yoked to the storms of life will accuse you of not caring, because you are at such peace and rest in a boat that seems to be going down. But you know something they don't, Jesus is in the boat and He said we are going to the other side!
